In Loving Memory of Margery Ella McDonald

Margery Ella McDonald, 95, of Weston, Colorado, passed away peacefully on December 28th surrounded by her family and loved ones.

She was born on May 19th, 1928, to Isaiah Fredrick & Anne Elizabeth Norman of Newport, South Wales. In 1944, she met William McDonald when he was serving in the Army and stationed in South Wales during WW2. They wrote letters back and forth during the war and then wed in 1946. A year later Margery followed William to Colorado. In 1960 their son Warren was born. They moved to Northglenn, Colorado in the late 1960’s and then back to the ranch in the eighties where they spent the rest of their lives.

Margery enjoyed spending time with her sorority sisters from Beta Sigma Phi, her Red Hat Society sisters – the Red Hat Mountain Mamas, and all the many friends she had at the senior citizens center. She loved traveling with family, going shopping, hunting arrowheads with her grandchildren, and telling stories about her experiences during WW2 and of her Welsh heritage.

Margery was preceded in death by her husband William, her parents Isaiah and Anne, and her siblings, Ronald, Fred, Peter, Kathleen, Joan, and Jean.

She is survived by her son, Warren, her grandchildren; Justin McDonald, Stephanie (Dillon)Squires, and William, and Brandon McDonald, her great-grandchildren; Kennedy, Evelyn, and Henry Squires, her niece Jeanne (Randy) Vollmar, and nephews Herb (Janice) Hainlen and Norm (Karen) Hainlen, and their families.

Margery lived a full and warm life, filled with joy. She will be missed by her family and friends, but fondly remembered with cherished memories of times spent with her.

Her memorial service will be held on Friday, January 5th, 2024, at 11a.m., Mullare-Murphy Funeral Home, 335 E. Main Street, and interned at the Masonic Cemetery in Trinidad.
