BACKGROUND: Victoria “Vickie” Gutierrez was born on August 14, 1945, in Tucumcari, New Mexico. She was born to Socorro Sandoval. She was married to Samuel “Sammy” Gutierrez, by Justice of the Peace on May 12, 1967. She would later, amidst her illness, receive the Sacrament of Marriage in the Catholic Church. She and her husband, Samuel “Sammy” Gutierrez were married by Father Joseph Baltz in the privacy of her home on December 18, 2023. It was pure joy for her to receive this sacrament of love as she exhibited pure elation during this sacred moment. During her time here in Clayton, NM she worked many jobs; her most recent place of employment was with Farmers and Stockman’s Bank. She worked at the bank for approximately 35 years. During her time there, she was given a spirit of humility, laughter, courage, joyfulness, and love. She formed very meaningful relationships with co-workers and many of the customers she served. Many were touched by her willingness to serve the other; as she always served with a joyful heart. Vickie enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends. She loved cooking for loved ones as they passed through or just popped in for a visit. Her home was a world of comfort, love, and compassion; always welcoming and warm. She also loved to read her Bible and sit quietly in her home by her bay window. She was a woman of enormous faith and courage who dealt with life “head-on” – no task was ever too big or too small. She taught those around her how to work, pray, and love. She led by example and touched many hearts deeply. She was preceded in death by her Mother, Socorro (Sandoval) Sisneros, her biological father, Homer Mackenzie, and the father who raised her, Amadeo Jose Sisneros, and his wife, Consuelo Sisneros.
