Lupe Montoya, age 79, died on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, in Amarillo, Texas.

The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM on Monday, January 1, 2024, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton, New Mexico and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, with Fr. Joseph Baltz as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.

Lupe Montoya was born on February 27, 1944, in Clayton, New Mexico to Jose Felipe Ulibarri and Natividad (Del Valle) Ulibarri. Lupe Married Abran Abie Montoya in Clayton, New Mexico in 1965 and he preceded her in death on January 1, 2016. She worked as a cook for Clayton Public Schools for many years before she retired. Lupe loved to cook, garden, and spend time with her family. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. In addition to her parents and husband, Lupe was preceded in death by a son, Mark Montoya, 5 brothers, John Vicente “J.V.” Ulibarri, Joe Ulibarri, George Ulibarri, Andrew Ulibarri and Johnny Del Valle, 1 sister, Joann Sandoval, a brother-in-law, Leroy Montoya, and 2 sisters-in-law. Sandra Del Valle and Rosella Padilla.

1 DAUGHTER: Penny Montoya and Frankie Archuleta of Amarillo, Texas.

1 SON: Phillip Montoya and his wife Anna of Rio Rancho, New Mexico.

1 DAUGHTER-IN-LAW: Judy Copley of Clayton, New Mexico.

5 GRANDCHILDREN: Phanael Montoya-Torres and husband Steven Torres and Aaron Montoya all of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, and Jeffry Montoya, Aaron Archuleta and wife Ana and Justin Montoya all of Amarillo, Texas.

2 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Aria and Aeson Archuleta.

2 SISTERS: Patsy Padilla and husband Ralph of Pueblo, Colorado and Jane Valdez and husband Pete of Bembrook, Texas.

5 BROTHERS-IN-LAW: Tommy Montoya and wife Luciene, Robert Montoya and wife Joy all of Clayton, New Mexico, Frankie Montoya, and wife Connie and Jake Padilla all of Amarillo, Texas and Paul Montoya and wife Jerri Ann of La Junta, Colorado.

8 SISTERS-IN-LAW: Jo Jo Talley and Katie Montoya both of Clayton, New Mexico, Rosabelle Ulibarri of Raton, New Mexico, Mary Burgess, Vera Garcia and husband Steven, Christine Godinez and husband Mark, Florine Mestas, and husband Charles and Rosie Miller and husband Joe all of Amarillo, Texas.

And numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
