Nativida J. Nettie Trujillo

( May 28, 1939 – December 05, 2023 )

Nativida J. Trujillo (Nettie) passed away peacefully on December 5, 2023, at the age of 84, surrounded by her family and friends.  She was the daughter of the late Leopoldo and Mela Vigil. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years; Joseph Bennie Trujillo, both her parents, brothers; Leo, Conrad, and Pat, sisters; Carol, Gloria, and Celeste, and one granddaughter; Celina Mares.

Nettie is survived by; her brother Raymond Vigil (Theresa) and sister Joann Padilla (Frank), her   daughter Debbie Trujillo-Mares (Gilbert), Son Ronnie Trujillo (Arlene), Daughter Lora Martinez (Jesse), Daughter Brenda Wagoner (Dale), grandchildren;  Joey Romero, Jesse Martinez Jr. Justin Martinez, Valerie Martinez, Zachery Trujillo, Kedrick Wagoner and Ashlyn Wagoner, great-grandchildren; Damien Martinez, Elijah Martinez, Deja Martinez, Brandon Martinez, Dionna Martinez, Zophia Martinez, Esperanza Wagoner, Zayllene Wagoner, Kaiden Wagoner, numerous nieces, nephews and special friend Tanisha Oldham,

Nettie had many friends and was a well-loved member of the community in Raton.  She loved her Dallas Cowboys, fishing, gambling, coloring, and making the bulletin boards for the Senior Citizen Center.  She began her career in Education, as a bus driver for Head Start, was the librarian for Longfellow Elementary School, and then went on to be an Educational Assistant for Special Education students at Kearney Elementary.

Nettie and Bennie were members of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed all the many activities with it. Nettie loved all those she met and they immediately became her friend.  She was known as Gramma Q-tip.

Viewing will be on December 14, 2023, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.

Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be on December 15, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church followed by the Christian Mass of Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Patick’s/St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Bill Woytavich as the Celebrant. Rite of Committal and inurnment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Arrangements for Nativida (Nettie) Trujillo are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
