Connie was a beloved sister, wife, mother, and Nonna. She was born to George and Marveen Anderson in Del Rio, TX on August 31, 1950. She was raised in Questa, NM, and graduated high school in 1968. She attended Clovis Community College and received a degree in general studies in 1999. Connie met the love of her life, Lee Shields in 1970 in Red River and were married the same year in Taos, NM.   On December 12th, they would have celebrated 53 years of marriage. They settled in Clayton, NM, owning and running Shields Survey and Bravo Lumber. There they raised their two daughters, Maegan and Mariah, before moving to Raton and becoming the most wonderful grandparents to five grandchildren.
Connie was a strong follower of Christ, active in her church, teaching both children and adults in Sunday school for several decades, organizing and teaching Vacation Bible School year after year, and attending dozens of church summer camps with her beloved grandchildren. She used her God given musical talents each week singing and playing the piano on the praise team at her church. Connie was a master gardener and could be found tending to her flowers on any day when the weather was nice. She was a wealth of knowledge on flowers, all things gardening, and anything Jesus-related. She loved to sew and made hundreds of pillowcases for the people she called friends and family. Connie spent the last 12 years of her life as a chaplain, working in Hospice Care, and caring for over 500 patients. She will be incredibly missed by all who knew her.
Connie is survived by her husband Lee Shields of Raton, NM.  Daughters Maegan Elizabeth and husband Scott Weese of Raton, Mariah Renee and husband Matthew Bolf of Dickinson, North Dakota.  Five grandchildren, Makayla Ashley and husband Cody Shields Linville of St. Charles, MO, Nash Shields and fiance Heaven Lawson of Bismarck, North Dakota, and Kerrigan, Anderson, and Noah Weese all of Raton. Two great-grandchildren, Idalee and Lachlan Shields Linville. She is also survived by one sister Sherry and husband Dale Redding of Castroville, Texas. Connie is preceded in death by her parents George and Marveen Anderson.
