Subject: Important Update on Noah’s Ark Animal Shelter and Future Plans

Dear Trinidad Residents,
We hope this message finds you well. As many of you are aware, Noah’s Ark Animal
Shelter will be undergoing significant changes with its license expiring on December 31,
2023. We want to assure you that the City is fully committed to maintaining the welfare
of our animal friends during this transition. Here’s an update on the steps we are taking:

• Continuity of Operations: Our primary goal is to ensure the City meets its legal
obligations for impounding animals. We are dedicated to maintaining smooth operations
at the shelter.
• Adoption Drive: We’re working tirelessly to find loving homes for our animals. Since
the announcement, we’ve successfully reduced the number of shelter animals from over
100 to nearly 40. We encourage those considering adoption to visit us.
• Skilled Staffing: We are ensuring that well-trained staff are available to continue
operations and provide emergency housing for animals.
• Community Task Force: In collaboration with support agencies, we are forming a
task force to create a sustainable, long-term solution for animal shelter operations.
• Compliance and Cooperation: We are following the guidance of the Department of
Agriculture and ensuring our operations comply with the Colorado Pet Animal Care and
Facilities Act.
• Ordinance Review: We are reviewing city ordinances related to animals to align with
current best practices, aiming to reduce the number of stray animals in our community.
• Regional Partnerships: Partnering with other regional shelters is a priority, ensuring
every animal has a safe place to go.
• Temporary Name Retention: The Noah’s Ark name will be temporarily retained to
cover all legal and operational aspects during this transition period.
• Community Education: We are committed to educating our community on humane
animal treatment and seeking your help in reducing the number of animals needing
shelter.
• Extended Fostering: We kindly ask our foster families to consider extending their
fostering period, providing a loving environment for these animals until a permanent
solution is found.
We understand this is a time of change and uncertainty. Your support and
understanding are crucial as we navigate these challenges. We invite you to join us in
our efforts, whether through adoption, fostering, or volunteering. Together, we can
ensure the well-being of every animal in our care.
