In Loving Memory of Laurie Ann Lucero Garcia UPDATE

Laurie Ann Lucero Garcia, 54, passed away at home in Raton, NM on October 3rd, 2023, after a lengthy battle of cancer. Laurie is survived by her husband of 35 years Steve Garcia; children Richard Garcia, Amber Garcia, and stepson Christopher Garcia and wife Elaine Garcia; grandchildren Absidy, Bella, Alonzo, Karly, Armani, Annaleigha, Abriana, Marquise, Gabriel, Jayce, Angel, and Genesis Garcia; Father and Mother-in-Law Joe and Helen Garcia; Siblings Edith Lucero, Dennis Lucero, Robert Lucero Sister-in-law Anna Lucero, Roberta Segura Brother in-law Leo Segura; Sister-in-Law Lorraine Garcia Brother in-law Leonard Dominguez; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Laurie was preceded in death by her Father Jose Robert Lucero, Mother Louise Lucero, Sister Sarah Hernandez, Sister-in-law Cordelia Montoya, Brother-in-law Joseph Garcia, Nephews Justin Garcia and “God Son” Kevin Garcia, Karl Lucero, Thomas Williams, and many more family members.

Laurie was born in Raton, NM on June 7th, 1969. She attended Raton Public Schools where she graduated Raton High School in 1988. Soon after Laurie married Steve Garcia and had a stepson, a son, and daughter, and had a total of 12 grandchildren. Laurie was close to all her family.

Laurie worked in many different fields throughout her life which involved childcare and then worked several years for Park Avenue Insurance where she loved working with her coworkers and with the public. Laurie had very many talents and was very talented in bowling, softball, and other activities but was mainly known for her cooking, baking, and primarily for her art/arts and crafts. Laurie was diagnosed with Breast and Ovarian Cancer in 2012 and strongly battled until her very last breath. Laurie lived for her family and was always there for everyone no matter how sick. Laurie enjoyed her life with her husband and spent her last week’s spending time with her family. Laurie had a strong and powerful heart and was full of faith. She will be dearly missed. Recitation of the most Holy Rosary will be December 2, 2023, at 10 :00 a.m. at the Light House church in Raton recited by the Carmelitas Society. A Celebration of life will be at 10:30 a.m. at the Light House Church in Raton with EJ Johnson Officiating.

Arrangements for Laurie Ann Lucero Garcia are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home in Raton, NM.
