In Loving Memory of Charles “Charlie” Salas

In loving memory of Charles “Chalie” Oney Salas, born on August 12, 1935, in Dalerose (Kim, Colorado). Charles peacefully departed this life on November 7, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family. He is now eternally reunited with his parents, Onesimo and Bernice Salas.

Charles is survived by his devoted wife Lucille Salas, cherished children Charlene Duran, Jeannie Ackerman (Peter Ackerman), and Clifford Salas, as well as his beloved grandchildren Shandyl, Brett (Sarandon), Curtis (Casey), Payden (Eric), and Lane. His legacy also lives on through his great-grandchildren. Tre, McKenzie, Camden, Charleigh, Jaelen, Bentley, and Jaece.

Charles was proud to be from Southern Colorado and “home” was his favorite place to be. Once the proud owner of a family ranch in Kim, Colorado, Charles created enduring family memories on its grounds. His love for his family was boundless, actively participated in every facet of his grandchildren’s lives. Whether cheering at their sporting events or spending Sunday afternoons outside with a glass of pink lemonade. Charles’s presence brought warmth and joy. Charles also faithfully served the City of Trinidad for 38 years, working his way up to Maintenance Records Clerk; retiring in 2000. Those fortunate enough to meet him, work with him and know him will forever remember his infectious smile, boundless kindness, and his genuine willingness to stop and have a conversation.

Let us remember Charles Salas for the love he shared, the life he lived, and the impact he made. May his memory forever spark joy in our hearts and may he rest in eternal peace, embraced by the grace of the Lord.

We will be celebrating  Charles’ life on November 27, 2023, at 11:00 am at the First Christian Church in Trinidad, Colorado (200 S. Walnut St.) Following the service, the Salas family invites friends and loved ones to join them at the Trinidad Golf Course (1415 Franklin D.Azar Dr.) from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm for lunch and fellowship.
