Maria Elena Medkiff (Helen), 77 joined the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 7, 2023 passing of natural causes. She was born May 10, 1947, in Trinidad, Colorado to Serafin and Rumalda (Bueno) Munoz. She attended Trinidad High School and graduated in 1965 and fter graduation, she attended Trinidad State Jr College where she received her LPN and then furthered her degree by receiving her RN. Elena then worked at Mount San Rafael Hospital for many years. After the passing of her father, she relocated to Raton, NM where she worked and retired from the Raton Nursing and Rehab as the Director of Nursing to take care of her great-granddaughter Serenity Medkiff.
Elena was preceded in death by her parents Serafin and Rumalda (Bueno) Munoz, and her brothers, Paul, Sam, Max Ortega, and Lawrence Munoz. Sister Flora and Max Trujillo, Ernest Herrera, John Weisgerber Sr, and John Gomez.
Elena is survived by her daughter Donna (Carlos) Esparza, granddaughters Justine Armijo, Shantele Medkiff, and Ashley (Erik) Gonzales, her great-grandchildren Serenity Medkiff, Zaidyn Markoff, Ayla Armijo, and Savion Gomez. She is survived by her sister Ernestine Herrera, Rosella Weisgerber, Janice (Alez) Grine, and brother Jimmy (Christine) Munoz, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Elena also enjoyed bowling, bingo, going to casinos, picking up lottery tickets, going for rides, especially to the lake, and being with family and friends.
Pallbearers are, Manuel Ortega, Anthony Ortega, David Munoz, Carlos Esparza, Alex Grine and Erik Markoff.
Honorary Pallbearers are Serenity Medkiff, Zaidyn Markoff, Ayla Armijo, and Savion Gomez.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, for the family at 2 pm to 3 pm. and then 3 pm to 6 pm for the public at Comi Funeral Home at 1804 E. Main St, Trinidad, Co.
Please join us as we celebrate her life and reunion with the Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church located at 135 Church St. in Trinidad. The Rosary starts at 12:30 pm and the funeral mass at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow at the Masonic Cemetery located at 13050 Nevada Ave. Trinidad, Co.
