In Loving Memory of Eligio Lee Vialpando

Eligio Lee Vialpando, 84, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2023, in Trinidad, CO with
family by his side. He was born November 11, 1938, to J.I. and Delfinia Vialpando in Vigil,
Colorado. He was the youngest of seven children. Lee attended grade school and middle school
in Vigil, Colorado. He met the love of his life Lucy and they were married on May 26, 1962. After
having quit school he received his GED in 1968. Some of his favorite jobs were when he was
self-employed as a logger where he got to drive his own truck. He later was employed by CF&I
as a roof bolter for the New Elk and Golden Eagle mines in Weston, CO where he was able to
work with family. He retired in 1993 due to an accident in the coal mine where he was disabled.
During his retirement years, Lee enjoyed going fishing with his wife, kids, and grandkids. He
continued to garden, cut, and bail hay on the family ranch until he could no longer do those
things. Lee will be remembered by those who knew him for his big heart, generosity, and his
many stories that he loved to tell. He will also be remembered for his orneriness, stubbornness,
and how he stuck to his faith and his belief in prayer. He is preceded in death by his loving wife
Lucy Vialpando, J.I. Vialpando, Mother Delfinia Vialpando, sisters Naisy Vialpando,
Sylvia Vialpando, brothers Marty Vialpando, Joe Vialpando, Son Patrick Vialpando, grandson,
Matthew Arnold, daughter-in-law Joely Vialpando. He is survived by sons Kenneth (Angela)
Vialpando, Robert Vialpando, Carl (Naomi) Vialpando, Gary (Sarita) Vialpando, Daughters,
Deborah Vialpando, Francine (Chris) Harvey, 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren. Sisters, Stella Trujillo and Dolores Vialpando. Numerous Nephews and
nieces, special niece Naisy (Mike) Letzig.
His Visitation is Thursday, Nov 9, 2023, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Comi Funeral Home, his
Rosary will be on Thursday, Nov 9, 2023, at 7:00 pm at Comi Funeral Home and his mass will be
held on Friday, Nov 10, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at San Isidro Catholic Church, in Weston, Co.
Arrangements were made under the care of Comi Funeral Home.
