In Loving Memory of Mathew Lee Waide

Mathew Lee Waide came fighting into this world on October 5, 1989, at
12:03 AM in Albuquerque, NM, and left the world on October 9, 2023, at 10:09 PM
in Bismarck, ND. He was born to Stacey Lee Waide and Manuel Trujillo Anthony
Esquibel came into Mathew’s life when Mat was just two years old. Anthony
raised Mat as his own and was by his side until the end.
Mathew attended school in Springer, NM. During his early childhood years,
he enjoyed playing T-ball and peewee basketball until he was unable to play due
to his health. As he grew older, he enjoyed many hours watching his favorite team,
the Patriots, on TV with his family. One of the things Mat loved to do was patrol
the neighborhood in Bismarck and check in on several of the neighbors to make
sure they were good and did not need anything. Mat also loved to draw and was a
very talented artist. He also had a lifelong fascination with taking things apart to
see how they worked. He sometimes put them back together! Mat was extremely
close to his sister, Megan, her husband, Ben, and their two boys. He spent many
hours playing with Benjamin and Mavi and giving them rides on his powerchair.
Mathew had a very challenging life, due to his health issues. He was already
beating the odds just by being born. Even with all those challenges he faced
throughout his life he always had a smile on his face.
Mat grew up in New Mexico but has spent the last several years to be close
to his parents and sister. But his dream was always to return to New Mexico.
