Eddie Vico Lopez

Eddie “Vico” Lopez a lifelong resident of Maxwell passed away peacefully at his Daughter Gloria’s home in Springer on September 5, 2023.
Born to Cristobal Trujillo and Piedad Lopez Aragon on February 7, 1935, in Tinaja, NM. Dad was raised by his Grandpa, Grandma Lopez, and his Aunt Ercilia “Chila” Miller.
Dad worked hard, always helping local ranchers. Whether it was branding cattle, feeding, cutting/baling hay, or irrigating. He truly enjoyed it. He retired from the Maxwell Vermejo Conservancy. He was a Ditch Rider, he operated different tractors, including an Excavator. One of the few to able operate it to clean the ditches. Which He took pride in. Even after retirement, they would call to ask him to teach others how to run it. Dad always gave 100% when working, no matter how big or small the job was. Dad will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Preceded in death are, his wife Martha Lopez, Son, Eddie Lopez, Grandson, Joseph E. Cruz, Great-grandson, David Bryan Kear and Special aunt Ercilia “Chila” Miller.
Dad leaves behind his children; Terry (Leroy) Cruz, Bell Lopez, Cindy Lopez, Guy (Clare) Lopez, Christy Montoya, and Gloria Lopez (Who took care of him for the last 8 years. )
His Grandchildren Ryan (Tara), Maria (Matt), Arthur, Michael (Tiffany), Amanda, Vincent, Casey, Loretta (Jack), Bryce, and Stephan (Rose), 23 Great Grandchildren Half Siblings, Geno, Andy, Tony, Paul, Eloisa, and Phyllis.
The family would like to Thank Robin and Connie for their compassionate care. Ken Ramold for treating Dad like his own Father and doing those special things. Rose and Mike Ramirez for the special love and attention they gave Dad (Mr. Ed to them).
Pallbearers will be Grandson, Stephen Lopez, and Bryce Kear. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of his other grandchildren.
Recitation of the most Holy Rosary will be September 28, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Springer recited by Deacon Ed Olona. Solemn Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with Father Trieu as the Celebrant. Rite of Committal and Inurnment will follow at the Maxwell Cemetery in Maxwell N.M.
Arrangements for Eddie “Vico” Lopez are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
