In Loving Memory of Cecilia Miera

Cecilia Miera, age 95, died on Saturday, September 16, 2023, in Clayton, New Mexico.

Rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton, New Mexico followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM celebrated by Fr. Joseph Baltz. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.

Cecilia (Ulibarri) Miera was born on October 8, 1927, in Wagon Mound, New Mexico to Albino Ulibarri and Gregorita “Georgie” (Esquivel) Ulibarri. She was raised by Aunt Matilda Roy after her mother died when she was born. Cecilia married Joe Nestor Miera on July 5, 1947, in Roy, New Mexico and he preceded her in death on November 3, 1987. Together Cecilia and Joe owned and operated the 87 Club in Clayton for many years, Cecilia later worked for the Oasis Liquor Store in Clayton and then did home health work in the area caring for numerous elderly and sick people and families in the community. In addition to her parents and husband, Cecilia was preceded in death by her aunt Matilda Roy who raised her, 2 sisters, Martha Naranjo and Agatha Martinez, a daughter, Dorothy Steen, and 3 brothers-in-law, Arnold Miera, Tony Miera, and Raymond Miera.

SURVIVORS:

2 DAUGHTERS: Mary Ann Padilla and her husband Floyd of Bueyeros, New Mexico, and Jo Anna DeHerrera of Clayton, New Mexico.

9 GRANDCHILDREN, 18 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN,

3 BROTHERS-IN-LAW: Adolph Miera of Nara Visa, New Mexico, Mike Miera and his wife Anita of Clayton, New Mexico and Alfonso Miera and his wife Ophelia of Belen, New Mexico.

And numerous nieces, nephews and cousins
