Raton City Police arrested Dominic Giron 35, of Raton on multiple charges including burglary and criminal damage to property for an incident at Pinnacle Propane on Sept. 8, 2023, aggravated burglary with a deadly weapon for an incident at the Travel Motel and criminal damage to property and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle for an incident at Moss Adventures on May 16, 2023.
Raton Police Chief John Garcia confirmed that Giron is being held pending a Detention Hearing set for Friday, Sept 15 at 9 a.m. at which time it was determined he will be held without bail until September 22, which is the start of his first hearing for the Moss Adventures incident..
Giron was also charged with resisting, evading or obstructing an officer as police investigate a rash of burglaries in Raton over the past several weeks.
Garcia also confirmed burglaries reported at Super 8, Loaf ‘N Jug and 87 Express as well as McDonald’s, Alfonso’s Mexican Food, All Season’s Gift Shop, Sweet Shop, AutoZone, Raton Natural Gas Company, and Arthur Rolloff.
Garcia said some evidence that has been collected is being tested for DNA and other evidence is not conclusive and cannot be used, but the investigations are still open .
Garcia also said there have been no other burglaries reported since the arrest of Giron.
