In Loving Memory of Frank Delano Kuncis

Frank Delano Kuncis, affectionately known as Rags,  passed away at home on July 4, 2023, at the age of 83. He was born on June 23, 1940, in Lafayette, Colorado, to Florence M. (Bolton) Basnett and Peter Paul Kuncis.
He attended and graduated high school in Lafayette, Colorado, and then did vocational training at the Colorado Aero Tech.
Frank served in the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, where he served as a journalist writing for the base newspaper.
 On July 27, 1968, he was united in marriage to Lorraine D. Klaas in Rockford, Illinois.
Frank was a hard worker and held various positions during his lifetime. He was employed at Rocky Flats at the health physics and print shop. He worked for Coors in Golden, Colorado in the can plant as a machine operator. Frank also worked in the Coors plant, which was known as Graphic Packaging printing labels, He also worked at Boulder Enterprises where he worked as a journeyman printer, which was owned by New Yorker Magazine.
His employment also included Applied Films in Boulder, Colorado, producing advanced coatings for glass.
Locally  Frank was employed by Felix Chavez and Sons driving a water truck, doing custodial work for the Trinidad Post Office, was employed by Bob Bryd, installing gutters, driving a truck for Leone Sand and Gravel, and then was a heavy equipment operator for Las Animas County. Frank was a beautiful downhill skier and was a volunteer ski patrolman for 10 years at Arapahoe Basin in Colorado during the late 60s and 70s. Although Frank never was employed in construction, he built with the help of his friends, his home in Boulder County, as well as assisting in the construction of several of his friend’s homes. He learned how to install plumbing and wire electricity in his own home in Las Animas County. He enjoyed vegetable gardening when living in Boulder County and in Southern Colorado. A true patriot, Frank remained loyal to his country, his entire life.
Frank is survived by his wife, Lorri Klaas Kuncis son, Sean, Christopher, Kuncis, granddaughter, Cassie, Kuncis, great-grandson, Lakota, sister, Carol DeBorski, of Lewisville, Colorado, and many other relatives and friends.
Please note, please note Memorial Services will be held Friday, September 8, 2023, at 1 PM at the Comi Chapel with Pastor Cary Nelson officiating, along with the United States Army Honor Guard providing military services and Private family inurnment at a later date.
