a. Application SUP-2023-004 By Las Animas Wind LLC, a wholly owned, indirect subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources, is currently proposing to construct, operate and maintain the Las Animas Wind Project in Las Animas and Baca Counties, north of Kim, Colorado, and west of Pritchett, Colorado. The entire Project will consist of up to 440 wind turbine generators across Las Animas and Baca Counties, solar facilities with generating capacity of up to 500 MW located in Baca County only, together with pad mount transformers, an underground electrical collection system, project substations, private gravel access roads, a permanent performance meteorological data collection towers, permanent Aircraft Detection Lighting System towers, an above-ground transmission interconnection line, and other ancillary facilities. The portion of the Project in Las Animas County will be located across approximately 105,000 acres of private and state land in eastern Las Animas County, all of which is zoned Agriculture. The proposed Special Use Permit will not change the zoning, but if granted would allow for a non-conforming use within the zone not otherwise allowed without a Special Use Permit.
