Edward M. Tomsco age 81, passed away Monday, June 11th, at MCMC Long Term Care facility in Raton where he received wonderful care and was greeted daily with many smiles and had many friends.
Edward was born in Raton, NM August 23rd, 1941 to Henry Tomsco and Elsie (Devich) – Tomsco.
After graduating high school, Ed had various jobs, one of which was working for his dad and uncle at Tomsco’s Conoco Station on Main Street in Raton.
Ed enlisted in the Navy in 1960, and he traveled to many ports including, Hawaii, the far east, and Guam. His last assignment was working with an Air Anti-Submarine Squadron. Ed received an honorable discharge in 1964 and served in the reserves until February 1966.
He returned to Raton, and in 1967 became employed by Kaiser Steel Co. In 1976 Ed was certified as a Mine Foreman and progressed to the title of General Mine Foreman in charge of all underground operations.
Aside from his working career, Ed had an amazing talent working with rod iron, producing beautiful pieces of furniture and other items. Ed was best known for the incredible way he could take on an old beat-up vehicle and take it down to the nuts and bolts and bring it back to life. These beautiful classic vehicles won many awards and were on display being admired by many travelers along I-25 outside of Springer, NM, and I-40 near Glenn, NM.
Ed Tomsco was preceded in death by his parents Henry Tomsco and Elsie (Devich) Tomsco, daughter Debbie Tomsco, and sisters Margaret Snow, and Henrietta Gutierrez.
Ed Tomsco is survived by his son Michael Tomsco, two nieces, Kim Walton and Tanya Gutierrez, and three nephews, Matt Snow, Shaun Gutierrez, and Rob Gutierrez along with many great-great nieces and nephews.
Services for Edward M Tomsco will be held Monday, July 3rd, at the Mount Calvary cemetery, beginning with a Rosary at 10:00 am and will be followed by the Graveside service at 10:30 am with Father Rob Yaksich officiating.

Sad to see that another friend from Kearny through High School passing away. RIP old friend and Raton Tiger teammate.
