John Aguilar, 93, of Colorado City, passed away on Dec 28, 2022. John is survived by his wife of 68 years, Esther Aguilar; children, Ronald Aguilar, Esther Anne Fem, Juan Aguilar, and Sara Aguilar; grandchildren, and great grandchildren. John grew up in Raton, NM, and graduated from Raton High
School in 1948. He graduated from UNM with a degree in chemical
engineering and later, earned a second degree in civil engineering from TSJC and retired from the Colorado Dept of Transportation. He served in the US Army, National Guard, and the Army Reserve.
He was a kind, generous, and loving man with a poetic soul who was devoted to his family. He loved poetry, Mexican music, working outside, having coffee and donuts with his best friend, and dancing in the kitchen with his sweetheart. He always had a story to entertain and a big smile to welcome you. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.
Recitation of the most Holy Rosary will be Friday, June 23rd, 2023 at St. Patrick’s / St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 11 a.m. recited by the Legion of Mary followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. with Fr. Bill Woytavich as the Celebrant. Rite of Committal and Inumment with Military Honors to follow.
