Gail Sims Farmer was born on May 27, 1941, in Maxwell, New Mexico to Durward and Elizabeth (Hardway) Sims. She is survived by daughter Joy Matlack and sonĀ­ in-law Richard Whited of

Springer. Friends Velma ii:JIIKM _ ,

Crawford, Laura Danielson, and

Penny Jump is also of Springer. Niece Faye Farmer Reynolds and family, nephew Michael Farmer and family, and aunt Dixie Sims all living in Arizona. She is also survived by numerous cousins and their families. Gail was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 30 years Edward (Ned) C. Farmer, and her two sons Edward (Ted) Farmer and Scott Farmer.

An only child, Gail grew up in Maxwell and then enrolled in Highlands University where she met the love of her life, Ned, who was from California. She decided that being a wife and mother was more important than finishing college. The family lived between New Mexico and Southern California. After Ned’s death in 1990, Gail moved back to New Mexico for good, living first in Raton, then French Tract, and finally settling down in Springer.

Gail supported her community wherever she could make a contribution. She served for several years on the Springer Chamber of Commerce. She researched the history of Springer and contributed to several exhibits in the local museum. Gail also supported and served on the Springer Cemetery Board. Gail maintained a great love of God her entire life and was a long-time member of the Maxwell Methodist Church. Most recently, she was attending the Cimarron Church of Christ.

A memorial service for Gail Sims Farmer will be held at the Maxwell Community Church (formerly the Maxwell United Methodist Church) in Maxwell, New Mexico on Friday, JuneĀ 2nd, 2023 at 11:00 am

Arrangements for Gail Sims Farmer are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
