Spectators gathered along Clayton Road and Second Street in Raton Saturday morning awaiting the arrival of some 400 motorcycles that are participating in the Run for the Wall event.

The main body of bikes arrived in Raton around 9:18 as they departed I-25 and roared down Clayton Road to the Conoco gas station for fuel. After fueling they parked on Clayton Road for a snack and water break. The plan was to have a small ceremony honoring the veterans taking part in the event at the Peak Inn. However, either a lack of communication or other factors that ceremony didn’t happen and the riders mounted up about 10:00 a.m. and headed up Second Street and on out to the interstate via Sugarite Ave.
