Albert Garcia, age 73, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend unexpectedly went to be with the Lord on May 3, 2023. He was born in Springer, NM on May 10, 1949, to Albert B. and Alice (Martinez) Garcia.
Albert graduated from Raton High School in 1967. Went to mechanic school in Denver Co. He joined the Army National Guard in 1968. Married the love of his life Carolyn Sue Sandoval on July 5, 1969, and together had three children. Albert retired from the Army after 20-plus years. He worked for Raton Public Service Co. till his retirement for 20 plus years.
Albert loved to fish, hunt, go bowling, and watch football, baseball, and softball on TV, he loved his Western movies and unsolved mysteries, he like to read, and he liked going to the casinos (mostly on his iPad) and spending time with family and friends.
Albert is preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn, his parents Albert B. and Alice Garcia, his brother Ben Garcia, his nephew Benny Garcia and his in-laws Ted and Betty Sandoval.
Albert is survived by his children Kevin Garcia and wife Carol, Tammy Gonzales and husband Richie, David Garcia and wife Toni all of Raton. His 7 beloved grandchildren, Derrick Garcia and wife Danette, Darren Garcia and wife Haley, Tricia Mascarenas and husband Jimmy, Hunter Abaza and husband Janti, Alyssa Sanchez and husband Zeke, Richie Tyler Gonzales and Brook Gonzales. His 11 great-grandchildren, Aliyus and Alijah Garcia, Aria, Amelia and Grey Garcia, Jimmie Ann, Cameron and Dakota Mascarenas, Isa Abaza, Kaysen and Brynley Sanchez. Also, survived by his sisters, Gloria Rose, and husband Del and Jane Medina. Sisters-in-law Betty Evans and husband JB, JoEllen Owerko and husband John, brother-in-law Ted Sandoval and wife Joann. Numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and friends.
Albert will be greatly missed and loved. A viewing for Albert will be May 19th 2023 in the chapel of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home Chapel from 1p.m. to 3p.m.
Memorial Services will be held on Friday, June 16th, 2023 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home with Forrest McConnell Officiating.
Burial for Albert and Carolyn will follow at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Dinner to follow at the Raton Elks Lodge.
