Epifanio Ben Palomino

Epifanio Ben Palomino passed away on Feb 2, 2023, at the age of 90. He was born on March 31, 1932, in Dawson, New Mexico to Jesus and Josepha Palomino. Ben was proceeded in death by his parents, his wife Inez Palomino, Brothers Jess and wife Nan, Carlos, Mike, Tony and wife Kerry, David, his sister Louise and husband John Segotta and sister-in-law Ruby Palomino, and Nephew Andy Segotta.
Ben is survived by his brothers Joe Palomino of Raton, Chris and wife June Palomino of Las Vegas, Nevada, and sister Cecilia and Manuel Vallejos of Raton and Sister-in-law Alana Palomino from Kingman, Arizona. Ben was blessed with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
The Palomino Family moved from Dawson
in 1950 when the town closed and moved to Blossburg outside of Brilliant for 6 months before moving to Raton. He was an All-State Tackle for the Raton football team his senior year. After High School, he joined the Army for 2 years. He worked multiple jobs throughout his life, mostly working
for 25 years in the coal mine in southern
Colorado until he retired in 1994.
In 1983 he married his wife, Inez. He loved doing wood and stone carvings and would give them to his family and sell them at the local art shows. He loved to watch his favorite football team the Washington Redskins and Norte Dame college football.
Ben loved going hunting and fishing, he would take the Segotta boys deer hunting when they were young. Ben and Inez were in the Bowling League and enjoyed traveling with friends to bowling tournaments. Ben enjoyed his last years with his dog Angel.
Everywhere Ben would go he would make friends, always have a story or a joke to tell.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 11: 00 AM at St. Patrick’s/St. Joseph’s Catholic Church recited by the Legion of Mary followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM with Father Bill Woytavich as the Celebrant. Lunch to follow at the Parish Hall.
