In Loving Memory of Charles M. “Chuck” Hyde

Charles M. “Chuck” Hyde (passed away) on Dec. 10, 2022, in Raton, NM.

He was born on Dec. 2, 1932, in Springfield, Tenn., to Maude (Prentiss) and William Wadley Hyde.

He served in the Army as a gun and armaments inspector. He served overseas in Germany during the Korean War. He attended Trinidad State on the GI Bill where he studied and became a gunsmith.

With his first wife, Beth, he had William, Victoria, and Theresa.

He then worked as a surveyor and in various jobs that used the skills he learned in the Army. He became a math teacher and shop teacher for 15 years in Colorado and 13 years in Taos.

With his second wife, Lucia, he opened Chuck’s Gun Shop where he practiced gunsmithing. He became a realtor and started Hyde Properties. He worked as a broker certified through the National Association of Realtors in Colorado and New Mexico.

He was a Mason and served as master of Bent Lodge #42 A.F. & A.M., in Taos and master of the Gate City Lodge #11 in Raton. He was a member and past president of the Optimists in Taos and Raton. He was a founding member of the Whittington Center. He joined the New Mexico State Defense Force, where he became a major.

He is survived by his wife, Lucia; his son and daughters; his grandsons Eddie and Tommy Justice.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Ray, and Ralph; and sisters, Helen, and Margorie. And Many nieces and nephews

A Memorial service For Charles on Saturday, April 29th, 2023 at 11:15 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Raton on Sat., April 29, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Lisa Jo Bezner Officiating.

Funeral Arrangements for Charles M. “Chuck” Hyde are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
