BACKGROUND: John Kenneth Eiland was born on October 26, 1949, in Raton, New Mexico to Clara Frances ‘Fran’ (Largent) Eiland and Royce Cherry Eiland. He graduated from Des Moines High School in 1968. John loaded up his horse and attended Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas for a short while. In 1978 John had his first son, JC, and in 1981 his second son, Zac, was born. John was a cowboy by nature, and a tough one at that. He was an excellent roper and won many a ropings! His knowledge of raising show pigs was passed on and will be cherished. John had many jobs, as a cowboy, and took every one of them very serious, as all real cowboys do. As he rides off into the sunset, with his grey cowboy hat on, sitting on his favorite horse, Willie, with a rope in his hand and a dip in his mouth, he will never be forgotten and always loved. John was preceded in death by his parents and by a son, Zachary Eiland.
