Babs Malhoit Davis

Babs Malhoit Davis, of Springer, New Mexico, made her transition from earth to heaven on March 7, 2023. Babs was born on February 20, 1935, to John and Edith Malhoit of Pana, Illinois. She graduated from Assumption High School and attended Northwestern University.
In 1973 she married Dusty Davis; a handsome fighter pilot and the love of her life. Together they traveled the world and were stationed in Okinawa, Hawaii, Canada, and numerous states throughout the continental United States. Babs was the ultimate fighter pilot’s wife and was well-known for her gracious entertaining skills. She wholeheartedly supported Dusty’s military ambitions, and he eventually rose to the rank of Brigadier General. Upon retirement in 1985, Babs and Dusty settled in New Mexico; first in Taos and then their final move to Springer in 1994. There they established Check Six Ranch where they proudly bred and raised Missouri Fox Trotters and American Quarter Horses. Babs was actively involved in the Springer community as well as the Colfax County Fair youth programs. In 2021 she was named Junior Livestock Sale Woman of The Year.
Babs was preceded in death by her parents John and Edith Malhoit, her brother Jack Malhoit and her stepson Glen Davis. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Dusty Davis, her sister Suzanne Huber, daughters Sky Armijo (Rick), and Kirsten Ousey (Mike), and son Jay Pratz. She is also survived by her stepchildren Jodi Davis, Jim Davis, and Bob Davis. Babs was the much-loved “Greyone” to 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
A private inurnment will be held in May at the Angel Fire State Veterans Cemetery in Angel Fire, New Mexico. A memorial service will be held in May at the Check Six Ranch in Springer, New Mexico
Babs will be deeply missed by family and friends around the world.
