Jack (Kojack) Malaney
( June 11, 1947 – March 05, 2023 )
Jack Malaney, Kojack, transitioned into heaven Sunday, March 5, 2023, at his home in Cimarron surrounded by family. Jack was born in Las Vegas, NM where he attended school and graduated from Robertson High School in 1966. He immediately joined the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country during his tour in Viet Nam.
After discharge, Jack returned to Las Vegas and began his career as a New Mexico State Patrolman in 1972. He met and married his loving wife Evelyn in 1972 as well. They lived in the Albuquerque area for several years before relocating to Eagle Nest, NM in 1976. Later a short moved to Cimarron where they resided for 43 years. After his retirement from the NMSP, he took a job as Head of Security at the Philmont Scout Ranch for the Boy Scouts of America.
Jack was actively involved in the community of Cimarron for years while raising his family. He is survived by his wife Evelyn of 51 years. He is survived by daughter Tammy Malaney of Cimarron, son Jason and wife Tracy Malaney of Albuquerque, grandchildren Jacob Malaney, Jocelyn Malaney of Albuquerque, and Analiese Malaney attending NMSU as well as extra plus granddaughters Abigail and Adeline Yates of Springer.
A Celebration of Life for Jack will be held March 13, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Cimarron with Pastor Jay Jones and Rev. Ellen Swain officiating. The Raton VFW Honor Guard and the New Mexico State Police honor guard will be doing honors in memory of Jack.
