In Loving Memory of Boyd E. Tallada

Boyd E. Tallada 96 went to be with the LORD on the 23 of February of natural causes.

He was born at home, January 6,1927 in Pennsylvania to Archie and Margret (Johnson) Tallada. He attended school near the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania.

Boyd joined the Navy in December 1943 and was trained as a Navy frogman, specializing in underwater demolition. Spending time in the Asiatic Pacific Islands demolishing underwater obstacles so that the Marines could make it to shore safely. He was then sent to special forces in China, where he helped capture and destroy the enemy compounds. He was so deep into China that he didn’t find out that World War II had ended until over a month later. He was discharged in 1946 and then he re-enlisted in April 1948 serving as Gunner’s mate onboard several different ships. The main one being the USS Frazer. He ended his service in April 1951. He worked at a machine shop for a while, but he enjoyed driving semi-trucks, which he did for the rest of his working life.

He met his future wife Maxine, a Navy Wave, during his service in the Navy. They were married in Charleston, South Carolina, and had a son Terry and a daughter Dinah.

He is survived by his son Terry, great-grandson Aiden Gurule, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Archie Tallada, Mother Margaret (Johnson), all of his siblings, Marie, Nancy, Zane, Kathline (2 years old) Geraldine, Kenneth, Willard, Max, Wife Maxine (Percival), daughter Dinah Tolentino and grandson Joshua David Gurule.

He enjoyed his retirement traveling the country with his friend Ruby G. in his motor home. Spending time bowling, golfing, talking about World War II, and witnessing for his LORD JESUS and SAVIOR. He helped build, both financially and physically the Bible Baptist Church on Stonewall Street in Trinidad.

He enjoyed living in the country so he could watch wildlife. He saw Elk herds, Deer, Antilope, and the wild turkeys that roamed where he lived. Boyd still enjoyed long drives and all the while looking for wildlife. He would say he was watching for Amumuals as he would pronounce it. He would set with his friend Una when he lived in Albuquerque, NM. The best part of his day was when he was called Grandpa, Tata, and PA Pow. He is deeply missed by ALL who knew him.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 10 am at Faith Christian Church with Pastor Bill Frashuer officiating.  Internment will be held in Santa Fe, NM at the National Cemetery at a later date.
