Robert “David” Pearson, age 61, of Clovis, NM, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was born in Clovis, NM on November 3, 1961, to Lonnie Pearson and Marcia (Stebbins) Pearson. A visitation will be held at New Life Assembly of God, 517 W 21st St, Clovis, NM on Monday, February 20, 2023, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. A Memorial service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Dean Williamson officiating. Burial will take place at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens, 1601 E Llano Estacado Blvd, Clovis, NM. Bryan Pearson, Jockamo Pearson, Gregory Pearson, Ivan Valentine, Adam Rogers, and Chance Shaw will serve as pallbearers. Kevin Neighoff, Robert Taylor, and Micky Rogers will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Robert “David” “Pops” attended school in Clovis, NM. After obtaining his GED, he enlisted in the United States Navy. After returning from the Navy, he along with his parents built and operated Smoky’s Café in Ute Park, NM. David worked there for several years. In the fall of 1989, he met the love of his life, Teri Renee Valentine, and after three dates he proposed. They were married on March 17, 1990, and in 2003 they moved to Clovis, NM. Over the years David and Teri owned and operated two Cafés, a daycare, and an appliance repair business. At a young age, he learned the importance of hard work and kindness. He carried this work ethic and kindness throughout his life. Everyone knew him as Pops, and he enjoyed fixing and building things. David enjoyed working alongside his wife in their vegetable and flower garden. There was not anything he couldn’t fix and there was not a challenge too hard for him. He was a jack of all trades and master of all. David was a carpenter, plumber, electrician, mechanic, and cook. He enjoyed spending time with his family. Pops was a faithful husband, father, and grandfather. David enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He and Teri were blessed with three boys, five grandbabies, and an amazing daughter-in-law. David will be missed tremendously. Pops and Teri had an amazing marriage and were inseparable for 33 years. David was a fighter and never gave up. He fought till the end.
David is survived by his spouse; Teri Pearson of the home, two sons; Bryan (Cachi) Pearson of Clovis, NM, and Jockamo Pearson of Clovis, NM, two sisters; Karla (Micky) Rogers of Clovis, NM, and Katrina (Kevin) Neighoff of Clovis, NM, three brothers-in-law; Bud (Cindy) Valentine of Springer, NM, Mike Valentine of Vermejo Park, and Ronnie Valentine of Springer, NM, two sisters-in-law; Robin Morris of Hereford, TX, and Laurie (Robert) Taylor of Aubrey, TX, five grandchildren; Gregory, Tommy, Jocelyn “Curly”, Milli, and Luke Pearson and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; Lonnie and Marcia Pearson, one son; Jarrod Scott Pearson, one sister; Karie Bennhardt, and his in-laws; Tom and Kathy Valentine.
