In Loving Memory of Genevive Martinez

Genevive Martinez, 79, of Aguilar, Colorado, peacefully passed away at home with her family by her side on February 2nd, 2023. Genevive was born in Trinidad, Colorado on January 10th, 1944, to Santos and Eloisa Pedraza.

Genevive was preceded in death by her husband Ruperto Coca, her parents Santos and Eloisa Pedraza, son in law Pete Barajas, daughter Betty Lou Coca, her sisters Priscilla Mayo and Mona Lisa Silva, brothers Nisho Pedraza, Paul Pedraza, Jimmy Pedraza, Rudy Pedraza, and Manuel Pedraza.

Genevive is survived by her children John (Stephanie) Coca, Victoria Barajas, Matthew Coca, and David (Kathy) Coca, grandchildren Robert Barajas, Jackie (Ronnie) Pacheco, Mariah Coca, Johnna (Chad) Coca, Ariana (Damian) Chavez, Ruperto (Andrea) Coca, Samantha (Emilio) Coca, and Isaiah Coca, great-grandchildren Greg Barajas, Miranda Banderas, Patrick Coca and Kenneth Coca, brother James Pedraza, sister in law Lorraine Pedraza, nieces Becky Mayo, Bonnie (Carl) Lucero, Bernie Brungardt, Antoinette Pedraza, Debbie Olguin, Barbara Olguin, nephews Gilbert Olguin Jr. and Earl Mayo, and several more nieces and nephews.

Genevive was a devoted wife and mother and spent most of her life taking care of her family. She would do anything for her children and grandchildren and raising them was the most important thing in her life. She was loved dearly by her siblings, nieces, nephews, and numerous other relatives and friends. She always had a big smile and gave a happy wave whenever you saw her around town.

Genevive loved to cook and dance, and many times you would go to her house and find her in the kitchen cooking while dancing around to her favorite music. She enjoyed going to the local dances, putting together puzzles, and enjoying a good game of solitaire or rummy. She had a boisterous personality and would horseplay around the house with her kids and grandkids. Genevive was full of energy and was always on the go enjoying time with friends and family. She made the most of life and lived it to the fullest. Her firecracker spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Services will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at 11 am at the International Holiness Church, 609 N. Fir Street, Aguilar, CO. Interment to follow at Knights of Pythias Cemetery, C.R. 53.7, Aguilar, CO.

Honorary Pallbearers are Ruperto Coca, Robert Barajas, Isaiah Coca, Greg Barajas, Ronnie Pacheco, and Damian Chavez.

The family invites you to join them at the Aguilar Community Center immediately following the services for a potluck dinner.
