The Lady Tigers hosted the Lady Braves from Santa Fe Indian School Saturday afternoon February 11, 2023 for a district game that went sadly wrong for both the JV and varsity teams.
The Jv game started out close but didn’t take long before the Lady Braves had started to expand their lead. By halftime the Lady Tigers were down by nine in part from missed shots at the free throw line. Raton could only manage single digit scoring throughout the game to finish it off with a 37-23 final.
The varsity game, well Raton had their own problems at the basket missing anything and everything that went up in the first quarter going scoreless as the Lady Braves dropped in 20 points of which 10 came from the charity stripe. The second quarter was only slightly better as Santa Fe only went to the line twice while Raton was froze out of the free throws and only scored three points from Mariah Gonzales.
Third quarter action continued the single digit scoring for Raton as Santa Fe only dropped in seven. Fourth quarter action saw a running clock as Santa Fe pulled out by more than 35 points and finished out the game with a 51-12 win.
