In Loving Memory of Robert L Stuart

Robert Lloyd Stuart, 77, born June 2, 1945, in Albuquerque, NM. Passed away on Sunday January 22, 2023, peacefully in his home in Raton NM surrounded by family. 

Robert attended and graduated from Raton High School where he played football and upon graduation, he attended Adams State University in Alamosa, CO and graduated with a degree in Teaching.  

Robert then joined the USAF in 1967 and served as a pilot in Vietnam 18th FLT OPS 18th Tactical Fighter Group. Robert received many awards for bravery while in the service. Upon returning from the service, Robert lived in Phoenix, AZ, Co Springs CO, Springer, NM and returned to Raton, NM where he was principal of the Catholic School and then taught in the Raton public schools until he retired in 2012.  

Robert loved playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was a lifelong fan of the Green Bay Packers. 

Robert is preceded in death by his parents Tracy C. and Anita Jane (Baker) Stuart. He is survived by his loving wife Esther Janis Stuart of the family home, Brothers Tracy C and Loretta Stuart, Las Cruses NM, Stephan A. Stuart San Diego, CA. Raton, NM, Sons Robert and Kim Stuart Phoenix AZ, Daughter Mary Stuart Phoenix AZ, Patrick and Casey Stuart Yukon OK. Stepchildren, Chad Mondragon (Shelly) Phoenix AZ, Cindy Gutierrez (Dave Blank) Pueblo CO, Kathy Mondragon (Michael Martinez) Phoenix AZ, Brook Mondragon (Thomas Marquez) Raton NM, Amy Mondragon (Rob) Rio Rancho NM, Jonna Denise Romero (Shane Ashley) Raton NM. Ashley Mondragon, Raton NM. Robert was blessed with 30 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews, Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. 

Special thanks to Dr. Leonardo Lopez for his care of Robert during his illness and to Robin Pilley for her in-home care of Robert. 

Services for Robert Lloyd Stuart are set for Friday, March 17, 2023 at St. Patricks/St. Josephs Church with Rosary at 11 am and Mass at 11:30 am with Father Bill Wytovic as the celebrant.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
