Meyler Richard Anderson, a resident of Albuquerque and Maxwell, New Mexico, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2022, at the age of 85. After several months of declining health, Meyler died peacefully in his home with his family by his side.
Meyler was born to Doris Ethel and Charles Ernest Anderson in Albuquerque, New Mexico on May 1, 1937. Meyler was the youngest of six siblings (Dorthy, Charles Jr., Anita, Jody, and Patricia) all of whom proceeded him in death.
He proudly served his country, first in the National Guard, then as a member of the United States Marine Corps for 20 years enlisting as a private and retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 3. He served two tours in Vietnam and one in Korea.
He established Anderson’s Maintenance Service and continued to work until the end of his life as a licensed electrician, plumber, and HVAC technician/contractor. In addition to being a hard worker, loving father, grandfather, and uncle, Meyler was a devoted Raiders fan.
Meyler is survived by his two daughters, Sharolyn Anderson (Paul Sutton) and Melanie Anderson; two grandchildren, Kevin and Icely Maresca; great-nephew, Gabriel Smith (Roxanne) and family. Other surviving family members include nieces and nephews, Katrinka Smith Sullivan, Eric Smith (Rose), Nathan Smith (Liz), Karen Anderson, and Kevin Anderson.
Interment will take place at 1:00 p.m on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Santa Fe National Cemetery with United States Marine Corps Honors.
It was an honor to have met Meyler. He did terrific work, was always kind and deeply respectful. Semper Fi. Always faithful.
