Bill Barrett, age 78, passed away on January 7, 2023, in Hoehne, Colorado. Bill was born in Trinidad,
Colorado on August 23, 1944, to Thomas and Miriam (Perry) Barrett.
He attended Branson High School and graduated in 1962. In 1965, Bill enlisted in the Colorado National
Guard where he served for 6 years. On September 18, 1976, he was united in marriage to Sharon K.
Barrett and resided in Hoehne until his death.
Bill ran Sunflower Valley Seed & Chemical for 30 years alongside his wife Sharon. Before starting his
own business, Bill was employed by Burlington Northern Railroad for 13 years, Sacco Dairy for 19 years,
Savage Industries, Foutz & Bersum Construction working in the oil and gas fields west of Trinidad that
led to him working for Pioneer Natural Resources until his retirement as an environmental inspector on
August 2017. Once Bill retired from Pioneer Natural Resources, he went back to his roots and enjoyed
ranching and farming as he loved all of his animals. While Bill managed to stay active, after his
retirement doing what he loved, he also enjoyed spending time with his wife on the farm and tending to
his annual garden. He also really enjoyed watching the Denver Nuggets and the Broncos play ball.
Preceding him in death are his parents Thomas & Miriam Barrett, son, Billy Barrett, daughter, Susan
Barrett and his father‐in‐law Ralph Sacco.
Bill is survived by his beloved soulmate, wife, Sharon of home address, sons, Michael Barret, Denver,
Daniel Barrett (Bre), Pueblo, mother‐in‐law Anna Sacco, Pueblo. He is also survived by his brothers Mike
(Diane) Barrett, Denver, Tom Barrett, Littleton, Margaret Carter, Mesa, AZ, Van Dora (John) Richards,
Aurora, Kathleen Audette, Providence, RI, and Mary Jo Fraschilla, Albuquerque, NM.
Visitation will be Monday, January 16, 2023, from 3:00pm – 7:00 pm at the Comi Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2023, with the Rosary at 9:00 am at the Comi Funeral
Home Chapel followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at the Trinidad Catholic Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Ooaren Velarde, Brandon
Salapich, Holden & Conner Philpott, Wayne Trujillo and Daniel Barrett.
