Esperanza Esquivel de Maynes, age 84, died on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, in Clayton, New Mexico.

Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM on Thursday, January 5, 2023, and Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 6, 2023, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton with Fr. Joseph Baltz as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery in Clayton, New Mexico by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.

Esperanza Esquivel de Maynes was born on February 14, 1938, in Rancho La Alameda Mpio De Muzquiz, Coahuila, Mexico to Tomas Esquivel and Aurora (Ortiz) Esquivel. Her family was very important to her, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her door was always open, and she was always ready to help anyone in need, feed anyone that was hungry and take in anyone who needed a place to stay. For many years the kindergarten class would always have a field trip to Esperanza’s home to see all of the farm animals. Esperanza was preceded in death by her husband Adolph Maynes, Sr., by her parents, by 8 siblings; Tomas Esquivel, Aurora Solis, Ramiro Esquivel-Ortiz, Baltazar Esquivel, Jesus Esquivel, Florinda Esquivel, Antonia Esquivel and Florinda Esquivel that died as a young girl, by 1 son, Edmund Maynes and by a granddaughter, Isabella Nichole Elsa Marie.

SURVIVORS:

4 DAUGHTERS: Teresa Maynes, Glenda Maynes, Denise Maynes and Nayeli Maynes all of Clayton, New Mexico.

2 SONS: Adolph Maynes, Jr. and Ralph Maynes and his wife Monica all of Clayton, New Mexico.

9 GRANDCHILDREN: Christopher Quintana, Samantha Quintana, Zachary Tomas Maynes, Dylan Moncada, Edmund Moncada, Noelani Moncada, Adriano Maynes, Serena Ramirez and Donicio Ramirez.

7 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN: Karmah Quintana, Malikah Quintana, Azazel Quintana, Yazmin Moncada, Langston Moncada, Anahi Moncada and Aiden Maynes.

4 BROTHERS: Gonzalo Esquivel of Leander, Texas, Gaspar Esquivel of Austin, Texas and Oscar Esquivel and Roberto Esquivel both of Clayton, New Mexico.

3 SISTERS: Cristina Santos of Kyle, Texas, Argelia Herrera of Austin, Texas and Estela Esquivel of Monterrey, Mexico.

And numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
