Daniel E. Maestas, age 81, died on Sunday, December 25, 2022, in Amarillo, Texas.
Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Hass Funeral Home in Clayton, New Mexico. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Fr. Joseph Baltz as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.
Daniel E. Maestas was born in Chacon, New Mexico to Moises Maestas and Sofronia (Gonzales) Maestas on November 29, 1941. Daniel worked as a sheepherder in New Mexico and Wyoming, as a firefighter for the New Mexico Forrest Service, built fences, and worked for the Clayton nursing home, Dairy Queen, and for the feedlots. Daniel was preceded in death by his father, Moises Maestas, his mother Sofronia (Gonzales) DeHerrera, a baby brother, Lawrence Maestas, a brother Gregorio Maestas and by a sister, Virginia Maestas.

2 SONS: Ray Maestas and his wife Bridget and Adam Maestas and his wife Stephanie all of Clayton, New Mexico.
3 GRANDDAUGHTERS: Veronica Maestas, Valerie Maestas and Violet Maestas.
1 GRANDSON: Elias Maestas.
4 SISTERS: Emma Meija of Odessa, Texas, Alice Garcia and Carmen Maestas both of Dumas, Texas and Marcia Guevara of Clayton, New Mexico.
1 BROTHER: Eddie Maestas of Clayton, New Mexico.
HIS COMPANION: Donna Salas, her son, Dominic Salas and his sons, John Ruben & Benjamin all of Amarillo, Texas.
