Frederick Paul Bertola, age 67, beloved son, brother, and uncle entered into eternal life on Sunday, November 27, 2022. Fred was born on December 28, 1954, to Joseph and Antoinette Bertola in Raton, New Mexico.
Fred was a member of St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Raton High School and Trinidad State Junior College and a member of the United Mine Workers of America.
Fred was preceded in death by his father, Joseph. He is survived by his mother, Antoinette Bertola, and his brothers and sister, Michael (Cheri) Bertola of Henderson, Nevada, Joseph Stephen (Petra) Bertola of Raton, and Marisa (Stephen) Aguirre, of Raton. He is also survived by his special niece and caregiver, Alisa (Trevor) Levandoski, and numerous other nieces, nephews, and relatives.
Mass of the resurrection will be Thursday, December 15, 2022, at 11:00 am at St. Patrick’s-St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Raton with Father William Woytavich as the celebrant. The rite of Christian burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Brian Hennigan, Jason Bartel, Thomas Sciacca, Stephen Aguirre, Trevor Levandoski, and Gary Gabriele. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Bertola and Joseph Stephen Bertola.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice or the American Gold Star Mothers.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Kara Roberts and her staff at Manzano del Sol Good Samaritan Village for the care provided to Fred.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
