Ruby “Jean” (Campbell) Kear, age 82, died on Sunday, November 13, 2022, in Amarillo, Texas.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Rev. Billy Rammage officiating. Burial will follow in the Grandview Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton.

Ruby “Jean” (Campbell) Kear was born on April 28, 1940, in Seneca, New Mexico to Ollie Thomas Campbell and Esther Pearl (Havens) Campbell. She married Doyle Eugene Kear, Sr. on May 28, 1958, in Clayton, New Mexico and he preceded her in death on October 27, 1998. They had two sons, Doyle “Eugene” Kear Jr. and Russel Kear, and adopted a daughter, Rachel Marquez. Jean was an independent and spunky woman. She was the definition of a working rancher’s wife. There wasn’t much on the ranch that Jean didn’t or couldn’t do. She milked cows, nursed sick animals, and pushed calves in the chute. She worked right alongside her High School Sweetheart for many years and many more years after his death. She enjoyed painting ceramics, sewing, gardening, and doing many crafts with her grandchildren. There were always a few staple items you could find at any time in her home; Dr. Pepper her absolute favorite drink, chocolates, and Red Hots. The love she had for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was immense. She went above and beyond to make sure her family knew that they were cared for, thought of, and loved. She radiated with pride and joy for her family. Jean was a woman of great faith and walked with the Lord daily. She attended church regularly and volunteered with Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by a grandson, Caleb Kear, a daughter-in-law, Twana Kear, three sisters, Mary Miller, Joy Hanson, and Leta Burton, and a brother, Theo Campbell.
