Josephine May (Beckett) Mayhan, age 89, died on Thursday, October 20, 2022, in Clayton, New Mexico.
Cremation has taken place and a private family burial will take place at a later date in the Boise City Cemetery in Boise City, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.
Josephine May (Beckett) Mayhan was born on January 27, 1933, in Mullinville, Kansas to James Beckett and Josie (Marshall) Beckett. The youngest of 11 children. Josephine married Carl Henry Mayhan on April 13, 1948, and he preceded her in death on December 31, 2000. They operated the family farm south of Boise City for several years until they sold it and moved to Clayton in 1976 where they owned and operated the Mayfield Hotel from 1976 until 1991. In addition to her husband and parents, Josephine was preceded in death by 2 sons, Steven Wayne Mayhan on December 31, 2014, and Ronnie Duane Mayhan on February 2, 2017, by a daughter, Debra Lynn Mayhan on July 11, 1955, and by 10 brothers and sisters.

1 DAUGHTER: Fran Berry and her husband Nelson of Texhoma, Oklahoma.
6 GRANDCHILDREN: Sabra Farabee of Houston, Texas, Wayne Yates of Texhoma, Oklahoma, Troy Yates of Bayfield, Colorado, Robert “Bobby” Mayhan of Clayton, New Mexico, Preston Webb of Seiling, Oklahoma and Melissa Miller and her husband Kevin of Bethany, Oklahoma.
And several great-grandchildren.
