Carolyn S. Lutes, age 86, died on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, in Amarillo, Texas.

Carolyn S. Lutes was born on April 3, 1936, in Texarkana, Arkansas to Robert Yates Secrest, III and Christine (Buron) Secrest Smithson. She attended elementary school in Texarkana and then they moved to Clayton where she graduated from Clayton High School. After graduation, Christine attended WT and then SMU where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi and she graduated with a degree in accounting. She married Jim Lutes, and they lived in Germany for a few years, then they lived in Colorado Springs and then in Austin where Christine went to IRS school and worked for the IRS for a few years. They later lived in Dallas, Trinidad, Colorado, and then settled in Canyon, Texas. Christine worked for Pioneer Natural Gas and then Mesa before opening her own accounting firm, Tax Plus. Christine played the organ for the Presbyterian church when they lived in Trinidad and later, she played for many weddings. She took care of her mother and stepfather for several years. Christine was a member of the Randall County Republican Women and the Texas Society of Enrolled Agents where she also served as an officer. Christine was preceded in death by her parents and by a brother, Robert “Sandy” Yates Secrest, IV.

1 DAUGHTER: Kay Fincher of Canyon, Texas.
1 SON: Steve Lutes of Clayton, New Mexico.
1 GRANDSON: Brady Fincher of Clayton, New Mexico.
And several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
