The Lady Tigers hosted the Clayton Yellowjackettes Thursday evening September 22, for the volleyball portion of homecoming week at Raton High.
The Lady Tigers JV team took the court with a mission in mind to follow up their win over Taos with another mark in the win column. As the first game got under way Raton took an early lead and simply pounded the ball for a big 14 point win. In game two the Lady Tigers faltered a bit making several mistakes that allowed Clayton to stay close. As the score grew Raton finally found the groove and pulled out a five point win.
After the presentation of homecoming royalty the varsity teams took the court and went through their warmups before play started in this homecoming match. Game one saw the score seesaw with ties at 4, 5 11 and 17. Raton then took the lead and managed to get a rally going that gave them the four point win.
Raton took over game two and simply played the game to win as they pulled out and stayed in from with a six point win. Game three saw Raton dominate the net and the court as they held Clayton to 10 points and keeping an 11 point spread most of the game. When it was all said and done Raton sweetened their homecoming with the 3-0 win.
