ANGEL FIRE RESORT AWARDED MANAGEMENT OF COLFAX COUNTY-ANGEL FIRE AIRPORT

Raton, New Mexico, 14 September 2022 – Colfax County and Angel Fire Resort are pleased to announce that the Resort was the successful bidder to fully operate and manage the Colfax County-Angel Fire Airport in Angel Fire.

The County believes the Resort’s proposal will establish a partnership model that will result in an improved, more effective operations at the airport,” according to Colfax County Manager Monte Gore. Angel Fire Resort is well-positioned and motivated to improve efficiency and increase traffic to and from the airport. Gore continued, “As the largest single employer in the county, Angel Fire Resort brings economies of scale to this effort that will ensure the airport’s viability for years to come.”

Angel Fire Resort does not make this commitment to the improvement and long-term success of the airport lightly,” stated Dan Rakes, the Resort’s Executive General Counsel. The Resort has assembled a team of professionals with decades of experience in the aviation industry, including 27-year Airport/FBO Manager Richard Nuttall and Durango/La Plata Airport Commission Chair Gary Derck. “Bettering the general aviation offerings and eventually bringing regional commercial air service to the airport are primary goals of this initiative, and the Resort believes necessary to overall development of the Angel Fire community,” said Rakes.

On Tuesday, the Colfax County Commissioners voted unanimously to accept the recommendation of the County’s Office of Procurement in awarding the management contract to Angel Fire Resort, based on an RFP process which began on August 17, 2022. Resort representatives will now begin negotiation of the final agreement with the County’s legal counsel.
