On Wednesday, August 31, Bernice “Beans” Madrid, beloved partner, mother, grandmother and friend to everyone she met, finished her journey on this earth by finding her way to heaven. She was seventy-seven and born to Tony & Geneva Madrid of Trinchera, CO. Having attended school in Branson her whole life, she became a personal caretaker to countless people in need, including her family that she loved so very much. After years of giving selflessly to her careers, she retired and spent her time traveling and living a wonderful life—teaching so many valuable lessons to those blessed enough to be so close to her.
Bernice was best known for her quick-witted humor, feisty spirit and genuine heart. She loved watching her boys the Kansas City Chiefs and going ‘on the parranda’ with her granddaughter Whitney Sanchez, son Kurtis Aragon and life partner Veronica Cordova. She is survived also by son Mario Sanchez, brother Stevie Madrid, sister Shirley Grey, ‘mijas’ Nanette & Jaidyn Cordova, Amy Cordova & Max Sanchez, nieces & great nieces Anne, Kayla & Jolene Gonzales, Deborah & Marla Madrid and all of their partners and children.
The Rosary will be held on Friday, September 16 @ 12:30 PM with the Funeral Mass@ 1:00 PM, both at Holy Trinity Church. The family asks that all flowers and donations be sent to 1214 E. 7th St., Trinidad, CO 81082.
