Roger Don Sandoval (Donnie), 62, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022, in Albuquerque, after a long illness.
Donnie was born in Raton, NM on May 29, 1960, to Ernest and Eleanor Beatrice (Trujillo) Sandoval. He was preceded in death by his parents and his elder brothers Robert Samuel (Bob) Sandoval and Ernest Richard (Rick) Sandoval Surviving is Sister Carol Grano, brother-in-law David Grano. Special Nephews Robert Paul (Bobby) Lucero with whom he grew up with, Nathan Grano, and Niece Rikki Grano. Special soulmate Sheree Martinez and sons David (Ryan) and Joe Martinez. Also, special cousin Larry Gallegos and numerous relatives and friends.
Donnie graduated from Raton High School in 1978 and followed his love of horses through race tracks across the country, known to all as “Indio”. He loved listening to classic rock and spending time with his pets “Browner”, “Ham”, and” Wikkers” He peacefully spent the last years of his life living in the South Valley in Albuquerque, with his sister Carol as his caregiver.
A heartful thank you to Sheree Martinez and sister Laurie Abeyta for helping care for Donnie the last months of his life.
A service for internment of cremains will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery, at a later date.
