Waneta Dabovich, 89, passed away peacefully on August 24th, 2022 surrounded by her family.
She was born December 25th, 1932, to Rose Ella and Art Nichols and is the sister of Veda, Vina, and Betty.
Waneta was married to the late Danny Dabovich on March 15, 1952 and they had four children while living in the Moreno Valley of New Mexico. She was active as a Colfax County Commissioner, office manager, and board member throughout her life, but her greatest joy was her family. Retirement took her to Raton, NM, and later to Oklahoma City, Ok.
Waneta, or Memaw to her family, was preceded in death by her husband of 50+ years, Danny Dabovich, She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as below. Son, Nick Dabovich, and his wife Beverly Dabovich of Big Spring, TX. Grandchildren Craig Dabovich (Olathe, KS) and Leslie Dabovich Dempsey (Pueblo, CO) and four great-grandchildren ( Nolan Dempsey, Case Dabovich, Spencer Dempsey, and Cannon Dabovich).Daughter, Rozella Sumner, and her husband Gene Sumner of Oklahoma City along with children David Sumner & family (Luther, OK), Tonya Newton & family (Edmond, OK), and Gary Sumner & family (Luther, OK).
Son, Miles Dabovich, and his wife Anne D Dabovich of Wichita Falls, TX. Grandsons Dawson and Stockton Dabovich.
Daughter, Danielle Buttram and her husband Jerod Buttram of Edmond, OK. Granddaughters Shaundra Luft (OKC) and Jalie McDaniel (Houston, TX), and great-grandson Kallum McDaniel.
Waneta is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Waneta’s legacy carries on in the lives she touched with her patience, kindness, inner strength, and unconditional love.
Graveside services at Fairmont Cemetery in Raton on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 10 am.
