In Loving Memory of Stephen “Craig” Owensby

It is with broken hearts our family announces the passing of Stephen “Craig” Owensby on July 2nd, 2022. Craig was a lifelong resident of New Mexico. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time with family. He also enjoyed studying history, reading, traveling and would never turn down a ride on a rollercoaster, jet boat, or in a sports car. He always loved an adventure. He was gentle and lighthearted and loved to make people laugh. To know him is to love him. His fun-loving spirit will live on within all those that he loved and inspired. Craig is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Jane Owensby, brothers Patrick & Morrow Owensby, and grandsons Christopher and John Ramirez. Craig is survived by his wife Jane Owensby; his children, Kristen Spencer and husband Adam; Heather Owensby Ferris and husband Norman, Stephen Owensby and wife Sarah, Trey Murr, and Tara Fuller with her husband Cole; Grandchildren Bryce and Olivia Spencer, James Trujillo and Brooke, Matthew and Samantha Trujillo, Jordan Spencer, Jarred Spencer, Liam Owensby, Camron Ferris, Caydence Ferris, Harper Owensby, Kenadi Ferris; and great grandchildren Penelopi Ramirez, Savannah Spencer, Naliyah and Nevyn Trujillo; Siblings Stewart Owensby and Sue, Susan McCarthy and Pat, and Sally Lemons and Mike. He also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Through the years Craig did accounting for several companies including The Boy Scouts of America at Philmont Scout Ranch, from which he retired and most recently retired from Barb Construction in Albuquerque. Craig’s infectious smile and fun loving nature will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of Life will be held at Peralta Memorial United Methodist Church, 25 Wesley Rd, Peralta, N.M. 87042 on Saturday July 23, 2022 at Il:00 am. Inurnment will be held privately by family at “The Family Ranch” at a later time.
