Gerald Dale Gove, age 82, died in Amarillo, Texas on Wednesday, June 22, 2022.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in Clayton, New Mexico with Rev. Hilario Perez, pastor officiating. Graveside services will be held at the Campo Cemetery in Campo, Colorado at 2:30 PM. Arrangements are under the direction of Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.

Gerald Dale Gove was born on July 19, 1939, in Campo, Colorado to Ira David Gove and Myrtle Elsie (Crone) Gove. He graduated from Clayton High School in 1958 and served in the US Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. As a young man, Gerald worked for a filling station and an irrigation company. For Cox Farm Equipment, he owned and operated his own business, Union County Sales and Equipment, a mechanic shop and wrecker service, and then drove a truck. Gerald also farmed and ranched all of his life. He was very well known for making Christmas candy for family and friends and for his devotion to his friends and family. Gerald was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clayton. He was preceded in death by his parents and by 2 sisters, Beverly baker and Betty Bass.

1 DAUGHTER: Valerie Gove and her boyfriend Mark Krueger of Tijeras, New Mexico.

1 SISTER: Beatrice Boggs of Clayton, New Mexico.

His special friend: Judy Like of Clayton, New Mexico, and her daughters, Jani Day and her husband Trey of Amarillo, Texas, and Kathy Bradley and her husband Tag of Dalhart, Texas.

6 NIECES & NEPHEWS: Gloria Jean Tate of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Debbie Hammit and her husband Gary of Fritch, Texas, Jerry Bass and his wife Margie of San Antonio, Texas, Keith Boggs of Dalhart, Texas, David Boggs and his wife Cynthia of Canyon, Texas and Barbara French and her husband Brian of Dalhart, Texas.

Several great-nieces and great-nephews.
