Marjorie Ann Benjamin

Marjorie “Marge” Ann (Silbaugh) Benjamin, 76, of French Tract, NM, passed away June 18, 2022, at home. Marge was born November 22, 1945, in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Foster and Ethel (Hoskins) Silbaugh. She moved to Longmont, CO with her family in 1956. She married Darrell Benjamin on September 29, 1962. They lived and worked on the family farm in the Longmont area until moving to Angel Fire, NM in 1983. While living in Longmont she served as a Girl Scout leader and was involved in the 4-H Club. She was also a proud member of the Mile High Jeep Club. After moving to Angel Fire, she proudly served in the Angel Fire Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years as a firefighter and EMT; she was a well-respected member of the volunteer fire department and was a role model for women interested in fire services. Marge was well-known and involved in the community during her time in Angel Fire. Marge and Darrell finally settled in French Tract in 2013 where she spent the remainder of her time.
Her home and heart were always open to her children’s friends, whom she lovingly referred to as her bonus children. Her love and acceptance of family and friends, no matter their path in life, were absolute and undeniable. She was fiercely loyal to those she loved. Marge shared a special relationship with her sister Marilyn; whom she loved to visit and have long conversations with. She loved animals and adopted several pets throughout her lifetime, all of which were doted on and loved unconditionally. Marge was known for her bold and kind ways, incredible wit and candor, her tenacious no-nonsense attitude, and her homemade lasagna.
She is survived by her four children: Yvette Stone, Elise (Richard) Taylor, David (Wynette) Benjamin, and Alan (Cameron) Benjamin; her fifteen grandchildren and two great grandsons; her best friend and sister Marilyn (Silbaugh) Caryl and brother Donnie Silbaugh; and numerous extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Darrell; her parents, Foster and Ethel Silbaugh; her sister, Donna (Silbaugh) Dier; and her brothers, Darwin Silbaugh and Darrell Silbaugh.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 2nd, 2022, at 1:00 PM at Val Verde Fire Station, 27749 US-64, Angel Fire, NM 87110. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local animal shelter in memory of Marge.
