Mateo Sandoval, age 79, died on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, in Mosquero, New Mexico.

Rosary will be recited at 1:30 PM on Friday, July 1, 2022, and Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 2:00 PM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mosquero, New Mexico with Fr. Chris Martinez as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Mosquero Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, New Mexico.

Mateo Sandoval was born on February 7, 1943, in Mosquero, New Mexico to Mateo Sandoval and Eloisa (Garcia) Sandoval. He lived most of his life in Mosquero and lived in California for eight years. Mateo married Jane Connie (Arguello) Sandoval on February 3, 1962, in Mosquero, New Mexico. Mateo worked for Hartley Construction in Roy for a few years and then worked for the New Mexico Department of Transportation until he retired. He enjoyed working in his personal shop on welding projects and numerous custom projects. He especially loved watching his grandchildren play basketball. Mateo was preceded in death by his parents, by a brother, Adolfo Sandoval, and a sister, Dora Tompkins.

SURVIVORS:

WIFE: Jane Sandoval of Mosquero, New Mexico.

3 DAUGHTERS: Christina Vigil and her husband Ray of Mosquero, New Mexico, Amanda Serrano and her husband Mario of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Roberta Sandoval of Ruidoso, New Mexico.

4 GRANDCHILDREN: Gabriella Vigil of Portales, New Mexico, Mya Vigil of Amarillo, Texas and Annika Serrano and Jacob Serrano both of Las Cruces, New Mexico.

2 SISTERS: Jane Maestas of Springer, New Mexico, and Beatrice Baca of Bernalillo, New Mexico.

And numerous nieces and nephews.

MEMORIALS: The family asks that memorials be made in Mateo’s memory to the Parkinson Foundation.
