Michael James Scarselli, born April 6, 1955, entered into eternal life June 12, 2022.
Michael was the son of Laurina and Joseph Scarselli of Raton, NM. He attended St Patrick’s Catholic School and graduated from Raton High School in 1973. He attended UNM in
Albuquerque, NM where he studied finance, accounting, and business management.
While working his way through college as a bellman and then later as a night auditor at a hotel owned by George J. Maloof Sr., he was asked by Mr. Maloof to move to Gallup, NM to open and manage a new hotel. This was the start of a 45 plus year career with the Maloof Companies.
Although he lived in a number of locations in NM, AZ, and CO, his primary residence for many
years was in Las Vegas, NV.
No matter where Michael lived, he lived his life to the fullest and his life always revolved around his family and friends.
He retired from Maloof Companies as Vice President of Special Projects in May 2021 and upon his retirement he moved back to his home town of Raton. He was absolutely thrilled to be back in Raton where he enjoyed his involvement in his church, St. Patrick’s/ St. Joseph’s Catholic church, getting reacquainted with old friends and making new friends throughout the
community. Soon after returning to Raton, he met his little best friend, Vega. A little dog who came to his door in a rain storm, and needed to be cared for and loved. He took her in and they
both enjoyed a remarkable bond.
Michael joined eternal life with his parents, Laurina and Joseph Scarselli, his brother, Robert Scarselli, his nephew, Brett Sonchar, grandparents Tony and Anna Marchiondo, Artuo and Anna Scarselli, as well as many uncles, aunts and cousins from both the Marchiondo and Scarselli families.
He is survived by four sisters, Catherine Boaglio and husband Bert of Arvada, CO, Jeanette Green and husband, Chuck of Raton, Mary Scott of Tucson, and JoAnn Sonchar and husband
