In Loving Memory of Michaeleen “Mitch” Chavez

Michaeleen “Mitch” Chavez was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world suddenly on May 29, 2022, shortly after her 70th birthday. Her battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed her courage in facing life challenges. Despite the pain, Michaeleen kept on smiling and stayed strong to the end.

The simplest pleasures in life brought Michaeleen great joy. She loved to share her beloved Westerns with whomever she could rope into watching with her, going for a drive, birds & blooms, and dancing. Her cheerful personality and enchanting smile were contagious to everyone she spent time with.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Chavez; parents,  Leon & Glenna; and brother, Paul. She will be deeply missed by her children Marcella (Anthony) & Eric (Art); grandchildren Jessica & Megan; brothers Tom (Kay) & Joe (Phil); sisters Monica (Steve) & Martha (Julian); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary will be on Monday, June 6, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at St Joseph’s Catholic Parish in Springer, NM, recited by Connie Chavez, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. with Father Trieu as the Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and Internment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Raton, NM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Arts and Humanities Council at 145 S First St, Raton, NM. This organization supports events that Michaeleen enjoyed throughout her many years.

Arrangements for Michaeleen “Mitch” Chavez are under the direction of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home.
